The Australia Junior Teams Match Tue 11 Oct 2011

The New Zealand Under 25 rifle team may have come in under the radar but are surely on everyone's screens now.  After a slow start at 300 yards, scoring 241.16, the team settled into the task at 600 yards.  Although no possibles were shot there were four 49's and a 48  to total 244.15.   At 900 yards they finished strongly with Charlotte Flanagan and Andrew Whooley both shooting 50.3.

Going into the 1000 yard range the USA Red team were 16 points off, Great Britain and Canada were 25 points off, New Zealand 27 points off, Australia 29 points off and South Africa 32 points off.

Coaching trio of Sam Teeling assisted by Ewan Liddell and Matthew Read really hit their straps at the 1000 yard line.  Lead shooter Bradley Palatchie got up with a 48 followed by Amy Hatcher also with 48.  Gareth Miller backed them up with a 49 and the crowd started to gather.  It was obvious the Kiwis were on the charge.  Andrew and Charlotte shot 47 and 45 for a team total of 237.18, five points better than any other team at 1000.

Even though they won 1000yards they could not catch USA Red, deserving winners on the day, with 966.90.
