Clarification of ICFRA F-Class Rules

F Class (FTR & F OPEN) RULE CLARIFICATION

Addition email received 27 January 2018

Lady and Gentleman,

I confirm the Chairman's interpretation and emphasis “They must be flat on the top and bottom.” Indeed the drafting of the rule is such that the sentence itself acts as emphasis.  I would add that the final draft of the 2018 rules has the following added emphasis regarding flatness… "It is not permitted to provide tracks for the guidance of bipod feet or allow the feet to create them. " - the red being the additional wording.  The rules are silent as to a hole for carrying plates but it would not surprise me if the FC Community was relaxed about their use, providing they aren't being used to admit a surreptitious 'spike'.  If the FC Community wants them to be explicitly allowed (subject to not being misused), then now is the time to add the sentence or two which would give effect to this.

Kind Regards

Phil

(Convenor IRRG)

Clarification has been sought from the ICFRA F-Class Committee Chairman on some of the F Class Rules

  1. Question has been raised whether cut out or hollow out of the bottom of rear steel plate is allowed for F Class? In short – ICFRA say NO.   However, “rope holes” and “grip slots” will be permitted.
  2. We understand that holes are allowed in plates for the purpose of attaching rope as carrying handle. YES, we will allow to rule F1.11 only  On that view, we think a hollow out or cut out of the rear steel plate (FTR and FO) is not allowed as per our IFCRA rule.  YES, not allowed

We also fully aware of the front steel plates for FTR is allowed as from last World Championship in Canada.  YES, see size in rule very important  However, in New Zealand there are shooters assuming that cut out or hollow out is now allowed in both the front and rear steel plates.  NO, Not allowed to any board, plate or “spacer of any kind”. The only reason why F-Class allow this is to “space” up the rifle to be able to shoot due to some firing points that are just impossible to shoot from without any spacer.

We read the cut out or hollow out of the steel plate is only allowed for FTR front plate, not rear steel plate of both F Open and FTR. This is the important part, nothing is allowed to be “cut out or Hollow out”. The very last sentence in the rule says, “They must be flat on the top and bottom.”

F2.9           The use of ‘tables’ i.e. a single flat solid surface extending under both front rest and rear bag is prohibited.  Carpet or similarly flexible matting may be placed under the front rest and rear bag.  Separate flat boards and or plates not exceeding the dimensions of the individual rests by two inches on a given side may also be placed under the front rest and rear bag.  In the case of a bipod the board or plate may be as wide as necessary to accommodate the bipod at its widest point, but not be more than 12" front to rear. It is not permitted to provide tracks for the guidance of bipod feet or allow the feet to create them.  No levelling screws or protrusions are allowed on these boards or plates. They must be flat on the top and bottom.
